Bhutanese textiles are quite unique, perhaps as a result of years of geographical isolation in the deep folds of the Himalaya.
Of the many varieties of textiles found in Bhutan, the most prized are Kushutara (supplementary weft brocades) and Aikapur (supplementary warp patterned fabrics).
I have had the good fortune to learn to weave kushu patterns while living in Bhutan, and the Techniques section has detailed posts about the process of weaving kushutara, along with information about looms and warping procedures.
Travelling across the country, I have also had the opportunity to seek out a variety of other Bhutanese textiles.
