Red Dzao embroidery is full of symbolism, and certain panels on each outfit indicate the wearer’s family, clan and village. All the embroidery is done from the reverse, and uses counted threads, like cross-stitch, but on normal cloth, so the stitches are tiny. Some of the work is stitched in navy on black, making execution even more impressive.
