The women’s clothing section of Bac Ha market was the perfect place for baby-spotting, and they were so photogenic in their gorgeously decorated hats. Even when the mother was wearing printed fabric herself, she had gone to enormous trouble to decorate her baby’s carrier and hat, as if declaring to the world through the care she had put into making them, “See how much I love my baby! Isn’t she special?”
